Meditating with Rumi
6 Week Course starts this Wednesday
Oh friends, in this course we will meditate with Rumi in a variety of ways. His inspired and ecstatic poetry will be nourishment for our contemplation in these 6 weeks together. Sometimes he soothes; at others he challenges but always invites us to directly experience the Source of All as he so longed to. Rumi’s words will delight us with his humanity as well as his sacred connections with All That Is. I’ll be choosing lines of poetry to explore from translations by Haleh Liza Gafori and Coleman Barks. We’ll begin each session with a short movement or breath practice to open our bodies and breath. Each person will find their own way of being with the poems: by sitting, lying down, moving quietly, drawing, writing—it’s up to you.
Restless with longing My mind and body weave web after web my own heart’s ensnared. When they trust, they stop. The path to you opens without a word.
By Rumi, translated by Haleh Liza Gafori
Recordings will be sent after each class and will be available for 3 months. While this is a series class, each class will also be a complete experience in itself and is available as a drop in.

I always trust my gut when it comes to planning these meditation courses. For 6 or 8 weeks I choose a topic of interest to me and enough of you come along to make it fun and powerful together. This past summer I taught weeks of moving meditation with simple and powerful Qi Gong forms, and since then, I have been waiting to feel the inspiration for what comes next.
Generally, I know what the next series is about before finishing the one I am in, but not this time. I waited patiently, and then somewhat impatiently, to see what wanted to happen. When I listened to this Wild Heart podcast with Rumi translator, Haleh Liza Gafori, I had my plan. I wasn’t sure at first how I would organize the class, but I knew we would be finishing out the year with Rumi. The joy I felt listening to the poetry of Rumi is what I want to bring to each of you during these classes. We’ll steep in his language, his metaphors, and his precious invitations and see where it takes us. In these times we need something deep and true to nourish and guide us.
If you can join us in person your physical presence is so appreciated, and as always, I teach livestream with a recording for ongoing practice. Sign up for this course here.
